I walked past this store recently and this outfit immediately caught my eye. I loved it. I love the jacket, the bag, the pants, the shoes…then I looked closer at the shoes and thought to myself ‘wait a second…..’

‘…are those stirrup pants?’ Then I looked even closer and realized they certainly were. They’re not quite the dreaded elasticized wonders of days past, but they go around the shoe, and I think that’s a fashion feature left in the past.

I really do love the outfit though. Minus the stirrups I’d be proud to be seen in public wearing this, so good job overall!

For the record, I like the shorts and jacket, especially together.  I’m tempted to not like plaid shorts, but with the jacket it’s just cute and a little bit classic looking.  I also like the sweater, bag and the shoes.  What are we missing here?  * ding ding ding* It’s the leggings.  While I don’t like leggings at all, period, they are even worse with shorts.  Leggings and shorts should never go together.  It cuts the leg off in two places, making the wearer look stunted, even if she is an amazon.  They’re even stunting the mannequin, not to mention they are distracting.  This is all made worse by the fact that I get the idea that the visual merchandiser is recommending this look to the store shoppers, sort of like ‘buy this, look modern and fashionable.’  But you wont.  You’ll just look silly.

People, please.  Show off your legs.  If you must indulge in the trend of wearing shorts in the fall, a solid, FULL LENGTH pair of tights will be much more flattering (just please do not pick anything neon, for all our sakes.)

Please tell me what is going on here?  All I see is a metallic blue mess with a high waist band.  I have seen some bad alternative ‘fashion’ in my life but I’m not sure why anyone would wear these.  They are cropped!  They have a high waist! They’re like a disco version of Urkel pants.  You can just picture Steve Urkel arriving at the school dance in them, hoping to impress Laura with their snazziness.  The shirt paired with it is not much better:

It doesn’t even match! Look at the rest of the display:
Scary blue pants, manequin in animal print and disco ball leggings and grey potato sack. Are they serious? What is going on here? I’m not understanding how this is productive to selling clothes.
